Abstract

• Since 1998, many post-industrial sites in Seoul have been transformed into urban parks. • Such parks have been seen as aesthetic objects and repositories of memory. • They have also been recognized for ecological, cultural, and educational value. • Design strategies have changed to reflect Western theory and local circumstances. • Korean landscape architecture needs to better consider Korean specificity.
