Abstract
Nancy K. Lowe, Editor I n January of 2010, the journal Women’s Health Issues published an important and historic supplement on ‘‘Transforming Maternity Care: 2020 Vision for a High Quality, High Value Maternity Care System’’ and the accompanying ‘‘Transforming Maternity Care: Blueprint for Action.’’ The vision and blueprint were the result of the Maternity Quality Matters Initiative launched in 2006 by Childbirth Connection. The supplement also includes a summary of the national policy symposium Transforming Maternity Care: A High Value Proposition held on April 3, 2009, in Washington, DC (Jolivet, Corry, & Sakala, 2010a, 2010b), an article on the role of Medicaid in quality maternity care (Markus & Rosenbaum, 2010), and a summary of key informant interviews (Jolivet et al., 2010a, 2010b).
