Abstract

Titanium hydrides TiH 1.99, TiH 1.89, TiH 1.60, and deuteride TiD 1.99 were synthesized and studied using DTA and DSCtechniques in the temperature range 80–600 K. The results were compared with the previouslyreported 1H NMR data for TiH 1.99. In addition to the known f.c.c.-f.c.t.transformation at 290–300 K, a new transformation of the second kind was found in TiH 2-x near 450 K. The results obtained do not confirm the appreciable occupancy of octahedralinterstices by hydrogen atoms in titanium hydride.
