Abstract

The high Value of PrinT Beginning with this January/February print issue, ORTHOPEDICS will be mailed to subscribers 6 times per year. In every print issue, Associate Editors Vik Patel and Terry Thompson and I have carefully chosen to include what we consider to be superior content via a new rating system that is now part of the Journal’s peer review process. These wellwritten and academically significant papers—our “Blue Ribbon” papers—appear both in print and online at www.Healio.com/ ortho. Congratulations to those authors who have earned BlueRibbon designation in this issue. Another print highlight, a new type of article entitled, Trending in Orthopedics, will feature a state-of-the-art new technique, a challenge, an advance, or a trend in our specialty that is currently having or will have a profound impact on orthopedics. It will be written by an author or authors who are at the center of this advance. They will deal with a technique or an advance that will enable orthopedic surgeons to improve the quality and outcome of patient care. This issue’s Trending in Orthopedics discusses challenges in reverse shoulder arthroplasty and addresses how experts in this area deal with glenoid bone loss. Future topics will include spine-specific implants in spine surgery and how one size of implant does not fit all patients; how to restore and regenerate articular cartilage; how to address massive rotator cuff tears; and changes in bundled payments and how they will impact orthopedics.
