Abstract

Judd proposed a delta-function model for f-shell correlation crystal field effects that uses an operator that is a product of two delta functions. This operator contains no parts that transform according to the irreducible representations [220] and [111] of the group . We explain these absences in terms of the ratios of certain factors. The corresponding operator for the d-shell is also discussed. .
