Abstract

The objective of this investigation was to assess potential for acid formation and mobilization of minerals when waste raw and spent Eastern oil shale are redeposited either alone or together. Acid and sulfate production and iron mobilization rates will be discussed as a function of shale origin, carbonate content, and oil extraction method used.
