Abstract
Zirconia catalysts were prepared by precipitation with different calcination temperatures. The ethanol conversion reaction was systematically investigated over these synthesized catalysts according to the calcination and reaction temperature, contact time, reaction pressure and time-on-stream. The ZrO2 catalysts exhibit excellent stability and high selectivity for propylene in the conversion from ethanol to propylene. The highest propylene yield was 41.8% over ZrO2 catalyst calcined at 550 °C. The optimum reaction condition for the conversion of ethanol to propylene is 450 °C under the pressure of 15 atm at contact time 0.08 g/mL min−1.
