Abstract
A facile synthesis of symmetric diaryldisulfides in 55-75% yield by nucleophilic ring opening of benzo[b]thiophene-2,3-diones is described. Keywords: Benzo[b]thiophene-2, 3-dione, diaryldisulfides, air-oxidation, ring opening, nucleophilic attack, crystallographic data.
