Abstract
In this paper, an approximate solution to the problem of steady diffusion with a first-order irreversible chemical reaction in a laminar boundary layer over a flat plate, is derived. This solution, that gives the reaction factor is obtained for high Schmidt numbers. It has been compared with other theoretical expressions deduced from the literature, and the comparison shows its value. The case of a second-order irreversible chemical reaction is also studied in the paper.
