Abstract

The transferred hyperfine fields at the Y sites in Y 2Fe 14B and Y 2Co 14B have been measured by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The NMR lines in both spectra could be assigned to the two crystallographically different rare earth lattice sites occurring in the Y 2TM 14B structure. A comparison with the hyperfine fields found at nuclei of magnetic rare earth atoms in these compounds show that deviations from the values for free atoms observed in the latter case arise because of the transferred hyperfine fields from the neighboring Fe atoms.
