Abstract

Dr Sigal suggests additional analyses in three areas, and we have done these in two areas for the sample of 32 patients who had received a high score on quality of object relations. In the first area we correlated the PTI in each third of therapy with change in therapeutic alliance from that third to the next third. We also correlated therapeutic alliance in each third of therapy with change in PTI from that third to the next third. None of the correlations in either case were significant. Thus, no evidence of a particular causal direction was found. In the second area we were unable to compare the PTI of dropouts with remainers because comparable sessions had not been analyzed with the Therapist Intervention Rating System.
