Abstract

The effect of fluctuations in the interaction energy on particle transport to the interface is considered by solving the one-dimensional stochastic transport equation both analytically (approximately) and numerically. The results show that in the presence of fluctuations a considerable increase of particle transfer is predicted, provided that the correlation time of the fluctuations is longer than 0.1–1 ms for 1 μm particles in an aqueous solution.
