Abstract

The establishment of agricultural institutions is necessary to pay more attention to the future of agriculture. Agricultural Extension Board is one of the institutions created by the government to help disseminate agricultural information, knowledge, and technology to farmers. The research was conducted in the karst area of Girisubo sub-district, Gunungkidul district, which is a dry area with various limitations in natural resources for agricultural activities. This study aims to determine the role and strategy of the Agricultural Extension Board in transferring knowledge and technology to farmers so that innovation has a significant impact on agricultural yields. This study uses a descriptive method through observation, interview, field practice, and exploratory approach. The results showed that the transfer of knowledge and technology activities was carried out in several stages prepared in advance within three months using a communication strategy with educative techniques. The transfer of knowledge and technology schedule is contained in the LAKU SUSI (Latihan Kunjungan dan Supervisi/Visiting and Supervision Training) program in the fostered villages in the karst area.
