Abstract

For pt. II see Nucl. Instrum. Meth. Phys. Res. B, vol. 86, p. 52-61 (1994). Transfer and excitation (TE) processes which occur in collisions between He+ ions and He atoms are investigated through the continuum distorted wave approximation with four bodies (CDW-4B) proposed by Gayet and Hanssen (1994). State selective CDW-4B cross sections have been calculated for this symmetrical collision system. A particular attention is paid to possible interference effects between resonant (RTF) and non-resonant (NTE) modes. CDW-4B results are in reasonable agreement with previous experimental data.
