Abstract

revealed cellular fibrous stroma with woven bones, and variable patterns of calcifications. Three patients with cemental dysplasia (CD) did not have any specific complaints. Well-circumscribed radiopaque lesions of CD were observed on mainly in the mandibular molar. Cementum-like ossicles with fibrous stroma were observed as the microscopic findings of CD. A case of an osteoblastoma with jaw pain was found. The radiographic features of the lesion were a mottled, dense radiopacity with an osteolytic border on the mandibular molar area. Under microscopy, the trabecule of an osteoid with a vascular network were predominantly found with numerous osteoblast cells. The malignant FO lesions were osteosarcoma and Ewing’s sarcoma. Eight cases of osteosarcoma were observed. The chief complaints were bony pain, swelling and tooth mobility. Irregular marginal bony destruction, spike-resorption appearance and a soft mass shadow were observed at radiography. The histological findings revealed an osteoid separated by celluar fibrous stroma, anaplastic celluar pleomorphism, and atypical mitosis. A single case of Ewing’s sarcoma was encountered. The patient showed jaw swelling, tooth mobility on the lesion site, ill-defined expansile radiolucency with onionskin periosteal swelling and hyperchromatic round cells. The histological findings of indistinct cytoplasm were observed. Conclusion: These clinical, radiographic and microscopic findings of fibrous-osseous lesions indicate suitable diagnostic criteria and surgical options for FO lesions in the jaws. The prognosis after treatment in these cases was mainly satisfactory except for some cases of an osteosarcoma.
