Abstract
The essence of shock is hypoxia caused by inadequate tissue perfusion, with high mortality in intensive care unit.Improving the recognition of early shock and strengthening the monitoring in the high-risk patients are important measures to reduce the mortality of septic shock. The transcutaneous partial pressure of oxygen(PtcO2)can be effectively applied in monitoring the tissue hypoxia, which provides an objective evaluation index for the tissue hypoxia during shock. This review summarizes the application of PtcO2 monitoring in early warning, prognosis evaluation and treatment guidance of shock and its correlation with other clinical monitoring indexes, which will provide a new way for the diagnosis and treatment of shock. Key words: Transcutaneous partial pressure of oxygen; Shock; Tissue perfusion; Oxygen metabolism
