Abstract

In a 3T3 cell line transformed by SV40 (SVB209), which contains one copy of SV40 genome, the entire E strand of the viral genome is transcribed. However, half of the nuclear E strand transcript (in length) is transported into the cytoplasm. DNase I digestion experiment with SVB209 nuclei suggests that chromatin containing the entire length of SV40 DNA is structurally modified in favor of transcription.
