Abstract

The aim of this study is to see the use of the system of vowels in the dialect of the village of Ternoc today compared with literary language. The survey is based on interviews villagers. The object of this research is the system of vocal dialect of Ternoc, as part of the language. The research involves collecting the material, and then the phonetic transcription data interpretation based on elements such as gender, age and education. This categorization helps mapping system for sounds, not only in regional terms, in geographical terms, but also social and cultural terms. Until today there is not a study of the sound system of Ternoc. The speaking of the area belongs to the Gheg Eastern Dialect, with some features mentioned earlier, to delete the absence of vowel / y / and the oral vowel / e / instead of the nasal compared to other northeastern Gheg dialect. Gheg dialect is spoken in mostly in northern of Albania, the river Shkumbin, as well as in Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, also in some parts of the Republic of Macedonia, and in the village of Zara in Croatia. The northern dialect of Gheg is spoken in north of the river Mat, including Ulcinj, Kraja, Podgorica, Shkodra, Lezha, Malesia Great, Dukagjin, Mirdita, Pljevlja, Highland of Gjakova, Hase, Kosovo, and Presevo. Also the village of Ternoc presents significant differences compared with the dialects of the Plain of Kosovo. Research is organized in four interviews. The first interview involves a retired woman from Ternoc, knows no other language than Albanian. Choosing such a respondent relevant to tracing the lines of the old, typical, for areal of Ternoc. We are aware that the two speakers, although elderly, may have implications television or other media. The third Interview involves an uneducated woman, and fourth Interview involves a young boy, experienced outside the village and connoisseur of another language. This division offers opportunities for age and gender breakdown. Interviewing people with superior education would provide data that interfere with standard Albanian, as such, do not enter the work dialect of Ternoc.
