Abstract

There are more than 2,500 specific interactions between Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) and host cells. HIV-1 long terminal repeat (HIV-1 LTR) is important in viral replication. Interleukin-1b (IL-1b) is a cytokine with a pivotal role in the immune response. Certain pathways of HIV-1 LTR replication and as IL-1b activation are well characterized. We developed an integrated model of the HIV-1 LTR and IL-1b activation. We present this model using the Systems Biology Graphical Notation (SBGN) within the monocyte/macrophage.
