Because of the probable role of tumor promoters in cigarette smoke, and the highly invasive and metastatic nature of lung cancer, we investigated the expression of jun family members in human lung cancer Northern blot studies of a large number of tumor cell lines representing all histologic types of lung cancer we found that c-jun was expressed in about one quarter to very high levels, much higher than those seen in HeLa cells, placental, or normal liver RNA
