Abstract

During the last years, transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has been growingly used to modulate brain functions under physiological conditions, and to treat neurological and psychiatric diseases. Here we investigated whether tDCS affected structural plasticity in the auditory cortex under both physiological conditions (i.e., in rats with normal hearing function) and in a model of noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL), that causes morphological alterations in auditory cortex (ACx) pyramidal neurons.
