Abstract

The transcervical technique of the uniportal Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery pulmonary lobectomy was described. The patient was a male with cT4N0M0 squamous cell carcinoma of the right upper lobe. The procedure consisted of 2 steps – the first one the Transcervical Extended Mediastinal Lymphadenectomy with removal of mediastinal nodes bilaterally, which were intraoperatively studied with the use of the imprint cytology technique and revealed no metastatic nodes. The second part of the operation was the lobectomy, which was described in detail. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of this approach were discussed.
