Abstract

In their Letter “Poland’s border wall threatens ancient forest” (26 November 2021, p. 1063), B. Jaroszewicz et al. discussed negative ecological impacts of a border wall that Poland has started to build for political reasons. As they explain, border walls are bad for biodiversity (1), and yet wall constructions are increasing globally (2). Although we agree that borderlands are in trouble, there is a positive sign: Global transboundary conservation is also on the rise.
