Abstract

Aims of the study were to retrospectively evaluate the short-term post-operative (p.o.) morbidity, the oncologic long-term outcome and the functional outcome at 1 year from surgery in patients treated by Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM) or by Total Mesorectal Excision (TME) after pre-operative long-course radiochemotherapy (RCT) for locally advanced extraperitoneal rectal cancer which obtain a complete or major pathological response (ypT0-1) after neoadjuvant treatment.
