Abstract

This article describes the two-stage introduction of transactional analysis (an introductory course followed by nine months of coaching) as a method of communication in a nursing home in The Netherlands. The main transactional analysis concepts useful in this setting are described, and some examples are given of the coaching. Results of research about this process are presented. The conclusion is that transactional analysis is a useful tool in this context if the introductory transactional analysis course is followed by coaching or supervision.
