Abstract

A low-level problem oriented language, based on transaction — logically exclusive orders — has been developed for real time control of manufacturing systems. The transaction language includes operator guidance in data acquisition systems as well as the handling of process signals. The management of the transaction is organized as a man-machine dialog. The commands of the language are self-evident. They are based on familiar, descriptive, every-day words in order to reduce the error rate and to overcome the psychological barriers of the employees. The profitable usage of this professional language within local terminal networks controlling manufacturing systems is demonstrated. Extensions of the transaction language for getting a high-level language are outlined.
