Abstract

Higher intake of ruminant transfatty acids (rTFA) is associated with lower risk of cardiovascular disease and may also promote insulin sensitivity. However, it is unknown if rTFA, such as trans-11 vaccenic acid (VA), influences glucose homeostasis in the context of type 2 diabetes (T2D). We hypothesized that VA would improve insulin secretion from islets after diabetogenic insult.
