Abstract

(Int J Gynecol Obstet. 2023;160:49–52) Evidence has supported the use of tranexamic acid (TXA) for the treatment of postpartum hemorrhage for some time, and it has become standard practice in many places throughout the world. Implementing the recommendation of this treatment, however, has led to many tragic deaths caused by mis-administered medication. TXA has high toxicity, quickly inducing convulsions and causing death in 50% of cases of intrathecal administration.
