Traitement chirurgical de la calcinose scrotale en un temps

Abstract

Idiopathic calcinosis cutis is a rare condition involving the development of scrotal nodules in the skin and subcutaneous tissue. Although it is a benign disease, patient's quality of life can be importantly impaired. We report herein our experience and surgical management of diffuse scrotal calcinosis. From 2012 and 2015, 7 patients who suffered of diffuse scrotal calcinosis cutis were included in this study. We performed a one-staged resection of the lesions by an elliptic resection centered on the scrotal median raphe as a scrotal lift shape. Outcomes including sexual quality of life and patient's satisfaction were assessed with a questionnaire. No postoperative complication occurred. Aesthetic result was high and sexual quality of life was importantly improved. No recurrence was observed in a 2-year follow-up. This disease is a pathological condition of unknown origin and hence is idiopathic. Multi-staged resection of the nodules are often performed despite being a time-consuming and expensive approach. Our one-staged treatment increased the patient's quality of life and self-esteem. We present a one-staged treatment of scrotal calcinosis cutis that is simple and effective.
