Abstract

The surgical treatment with curative intent of peritoneal carcinomatoses (PC) consists in the complete resection of all macroscopic PC immediately followed by intraperitoneal chemotherapy in order to treat all remaining microscopic disease. Hyperthermia renders this approach even more efficient. The techniques for excision of PC are rather specific and are undertaken only if one can assure the complete excision of all supra-millimetric disease along with providing a decent quality of life for patients. Intra-peritoneal chemohyperthermia techniques must meet great quality standards in order to be efficient. If so, this disease can be definitely cured in two thirds of cases.
