Abstract

The first and foremost important step for planning a good training programme is to assess its needs. In recent years farmers are gradually sensitized and oriented to cultivate the high value crops other than their traditional farming. The flower crops have the inherent advantage of providing higher productivity per unit of land resulting in higher income. Like-wise marigold growers are required to be trained according to their needs so as to get higher production of their crop. Looking into these facts, the present study was carried the general objective of this research in Kathua district. Results revealed that majority of the marigold growers have 64% training needs. The farmers were expressed their aspects wise training on plant protection, nursery raising, fertilizer management, field management and marketing management. Correlation analysis revealed that education, farm size, annual income, decision making behavior, risk orientation, marketing orientation were found positively and significantly correlated with training needs, where as age, caste were found non-significant with the training need of marigold growers.
