Renard graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in biology. He has been employed as a Public Health Advisor with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) since 1972. Paul has had a variety of assignments working with state and local health departments and laboratories. He is a Commissioned Officer with the U.S. Public Health Service. He directed the state-wide Genetic Counseling Program in Maine and then joined the Diabetes Control Program at CDC.
