Abstract

When Dr. Jones asked me to write a paper on the training of the military psychiatrist, I undertook the task with great pleasure. I felt that it was a good opportunity to try and bring together the two main streams of my professional life: my eighteen years as a military psychiatrist and my equally hard fifteen years as a university professor. Two aspects of my life which have always been difficult to reconcile.
