Abstract
The results of the 1986 survey of the Council of Counseling Psychology Training Programs are reported. Important findings include: (1) Women outnumber men in admissions, enrollment, and graduations; (2) student enrollment has continued to increase, yet the number of faculty has declined; (3) university counseling centers remain the most popular practicum placement, whereas university counseling centers and Veterans Administration hospitals are most favored for internship settings; (4) community mental health centers and university counseling centers continue to provide most initial job placements; and (5)program directors perceive the issue of generic versus specialty training to be the most critical problem currently affecting training.
