Abstract
Purpose: Major liver resection in patients with Colorectal cancer Liver Metastases (CRLM) cannot be safely performed without a sufficient Future Liver Remnant (FLR). When the FLR is too small, FLR-hypertrophy is induced preoperatively. This is usually done by Portal Vein Embolization (PVE). Combined Portal and Hepatic Vein Embolization (PVE/HVE) may be superior in inducing hypertrophy. The DRAGON 1 trial (NCT04272931) assesses the safety and feasibility of PVE/HVE and acts as a pretrial before the international multicenter randomized controlled DRAGON 2 trial.
