Abstract

This paper presents the results of an enquiry on Training for Human Settlement Development with special reference to developing countries. Its focus is on the needs and problems of training national personnel at all levels with emphasis on managers and middle-level personnel. The enquiry was initiated in November 1977 and is based to a considerable extent on a review of Habitat National Reports. After a brief introduction to relevant Habitat resolutions and mandates concerned with training, there follows an assessment, admittedly incomplete, of the existing educational situation and a series of proposals for implementation and experimentation. It is hoped that the report will be a useful reference for persons who in their public and private, academic and professional careers are involved in the resolution of human settlement problems.
