Abstract
Training effects on damping capacity in Fe–20 mass% Mn alloy have been investigated. As training treatments, the thermal training (only thermal cycling) and the thermo-mechanical training (thermal cycling with deformation) are carried out. Both training treatments improve the damping capacity of the Fe–Mn alloy with increasing the number of training cycles. Comparing improvement ability of the damping capacity between both treatments, thermo-mechanical treatment can improve it more effective. It is found that these training treatments can improve both the damping capacity and the hardness of the Fe–Mn alloy.
