Abstract

Abstract Social skills training is discussed as a logical procedure for helping children with peer interaction problems. Since this is a problem area which has been linked to maladjustment in adolescence and young adulthood, such interventions can potentially prevent later difficulties. Social skills training relies on behavioral rehearsal procedures to shape specific responses requisite to successful interactions. Treatment evaluations indicate it has promise, but lack of generalization data still presents a problem. A clinical demonstration project was described in detail, which included components intended to address this deficiency'.
