Abstract
The obligate intracellular parasite possess six rhomboid-like genes in its genome, five of which ares expressed in the tachyzoite life form. Among the products of these gene TgROM4 and TgROM5 are surface residents and are therfore candidates to be responsible for shedding activity of adhesins, that is crucial for parasites invasion. TgROM1 is a microneme resident, TgROM2 is a Golgi resident, and finally, TgROM6 is mitochondrial. This work is focused on the mechanisms controling the trafficking of the four seretase TgROMs to the microneme Golgi and surface. It has also been attempting to address the function of TgROM1, TgROM4 and to identify potential substrates.
