Abstract

AbstractTraffic management systems (TMSs) help to improve railway service performance and railway network safety. TMSs enable operators to control large railway networks flexibly and proactively. This chapter presents the main systems for detecting block section occupancy, including a brief analysis of the ERTMS/ETCS system. It also describes some models for evaluating station and line capacity with automated block and mobile block systems (in homotachic regime).
