Abstract

Despite the development of minimally invasive techniques and more effective nonoperative functional rehabilitation protocols, traditional open approaches remain viable options for both acute and chronic Achilles tendon rupture repair and reconstruction. Here, techniques for open Achilles tendon repair and reconstruction are discussed, along with outcomes, possible complications, and brief comparisons to other management options.Level of Evidence:Level V.
