Abstract

Wedding in Bali has to be parts generally suchmemadik and ngerorod. Both are still used by Bali people excepted in Pedawa Village. Pedawa Village has kind of wedding tradition specially named melaib ngemaling (stolen) which the husband to be steal the bride. This research aims to know (a) why melaib ngemaling (stolen tradition) still used in Pedawa Village (b) How the process of melaib ngemaling and (c) how the implication of wedding melaib ngemaling tradition. Process of melaib ngemaling tradition can research from ritus theory of Victor Turner and describe all ritual which done along as wedding process or called ngunya. And the meaning of melaib ngemaling tradition based on Pedawa Village people opinion can be studied through interpretative theory from Clifford Geertz. This research used wedding concept, tradition concept and melaib ngemaling Concept. So, this research used ethnography research method with in qualitative research by collecting data through observation, questioners and resource study. The research result showed that melaib ngemaling tradition in globalization era still exists and made as an option for those who wants to do wedding in Pedawa village. The implication of wedding melaib ngemaling was thought as ideal tradition so that’s why they had a strategy for maintained and also the thing to do for the strategy obiter with three processes such internalizes process, socialization process and enculturation process .The characterize of the kid from melaib ngemaling process was complicated to describe on explicit way, however the kid that be born with this wedding tradition look more independent and free.
