TRADISI BEPAPAS SEBAGAI MEDIA DAKWAH DI DESA SUMBER HARAPAN KECAMATAN SAMBAS

Abstract

The Sambas Malay community has its own cultural diversity and grows in accordance with the development of the culture itself so that it can be used as a medium for preaching. The tradition of bepapas is a culture that has lasted a long time in the Sambas community, which has been carried out from their ancestors to the present. Bepapas as a moment to seek pleasure and blessings from God, is a sign of gratitude to the Creator. In the community in Sumber Harapan Village, the tradition of bepapas has been accepted and developed until now and is adapted to the principles of Islam and religion for human life. The purpose of this research is to find out and obtain information about: (1) Bepapas tradition which is used as a medium of preaching in Sumber Harapan Village (2) The message of dakwah contained in the Bepapas tradition. This type of research is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. The data sources used are primary data and secondary data. The data collection technique is done by using observation, interview and documentation. The data analysis technique was carried out by data reduction, data presentation and verification and drawing conclusions. The technique of checking the validity of the data was carried out by using triangulation techniques (pengecekan) and member checking (pengecekan). The results of this study conclude that the bepapas tradition carried out in Sumber Harapan Village is used as a means of increasing dakwah in implementing Islamic values, as well as expressions of gratitude through prayers offered to Allah SWT. The construction of the message contained in the bepapas tradition through the tools used in the ritual process has religious spiritual values ​​and values. Dakwah messages contained in the implementation of the bepapas ritual of tepung tawar are divided into three main things, including messages of faith, messages of morality and messages of sharia. The message of faith in the form of faith in Allah SWT. includes pillars of faith, namely faith in qadha and qhadar to believe and in the form of an obligation to be grateful. The moral messages contained in the bepapas tradition are takwakal and sincere to the provisions of Allah SWT. Morals in society, namely, helping each other, manners, and morals in socializing in society. The sharia message contained in the bepapas tradition is a message from the aspect of worship which includes the obedience and obedience of a servant to Allah SWT. namely doing everything in accordance with the Shari'a and Islamic values, and the sharia message of the muamalah aspect, namely the creation of good relations and harmony in society and the obedience and obedience of a servant to His commands.
