Abstract
This study considers a target, which emits a signal, manoeuvring in obstacle-rich environments. Time difference of arrival (TDOA) method is widely utilised to locate a target emitting a signal. Suppose that many sensors are deployed to localise a target using the TDOA method. In locating a target, non-line-of-sight (NLOS) errors exist in the case where an obstacle blocks the line-of-sight path between the sensor and the target. Assuming that the obstacle environment is known a priori, this manuscript presents a real-time locating algorithm to estimate a moving target's location in obstacle-rich environments. As far as the authors know, this study is novel in tracking a manoeuvring target, while mitigating NLOS errors in TDOA problems. To improve the effectiveness of mitigating NLOS errors, this study further utilises the known obstacle information. Using MATLAB simulations, they verify the effectiveness of the authors' tracking approach.
