Abstract

A probabilistic and geometric analysis is given for the functioning of such discrete detectors like multiwire proportional chambers. This study allows us to propose an approach based on the Chebyshev metrics with applications for two-dimensional event recognition problems. Fast algorithms for reconstruction of straight and circular tracks and for vertex search are suggested and tested on experimental data observed on the ARES spectrometer (JINR, Dubna).
