Tracheostomy tube fracture an unusual fatal complication of tracheostomy

Abstract

Fractured tracheostomy tube presenting as a foreign body in tracheo-bronchial tree is rare complication of tracheostomy. Only few cases are available in the literature so far and fatality has not been reported in these cases. The present case remained almost asymptomatic for nearly a month and then suddenly died of asphyxia.
