Tracheal lobular capillary hemangioma: one case report and literature review

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical manifestation, pathogenesis, laboratory examination, pathological characteristics, diagnostic and therapeutic method of tracheal lobular capillary hemangioma(LCH). Methods The clinical manifestation, auxiliary examination, diagnosis and treatment data of one patient with tracheal LCH from Nanjing First Hospital was presented, and relevant literatures were reviewed. Results Clinical manifestation of tracheal LCH was not special, mostly accompanied with hemoptysis.The exact pathogenesis was not clear, might be related with local irritation or minor trauma.In addition, infection of viral and bacterial, hormone, angiogenic growth factor were also thought to influence the development of these lesion.Chest CT scan might be normal, and bronchoscope was the most important diagnostic method.The prominent pathological characteristics were lobular arrangement of capillaries and infiltrated inflammatory cells.Tracheal LCH could be removed by cryotherapy, laser therapy through bronchoscope. Conclusions Clinical manifestation of tracheal LCH is not special.Histological examination can make a definite diagnosis.Bronchoscope plays an important role in diagnosis and therapy of this disease.
