Abstract
In this paper an eight-frequency model for tracer diffusion kinetics in A 3 B alloys taking the A15 crystal structure is presented and analysed. Expressions are derived for the tracer correlation factors and tracer diffusion coefficients by using Manning's random alloy method but modified in the case of the ordered structure where the sublattices themselves can be treated as random alloys. In order to address the situation pertaining to real alloys such as V 3Ga, Cr 3Si and Nb 3Sn an asymptotic analysis is used. Tracer diffusion measurements in some of these materials are commented on. Monte Carlo computer simulations are also used to access the results of the analysis. Very good agreement is found.
