Abstract
In the family stories of Trabzon, there are some narratives which base the family roots to the three brothers who came to the region in ancient times. This motif is faced with mainly in the stories of settlements in the region and is repeated often. In this study, the place of this motif in the Turkish culture is tried to be put through the meanings that are attributed to the numbers.
