Abstract

This paper consists of a qualitative case study with the objective of understanding the concept of teamwork among nursing professionals at an Intensive Care Center of a private hospital in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais State. The study was based on the idea that the current teams must have a more fluid and less bureaucratic concept, with the capacity for adjustment to the constant organizational changes. Data was collected through interviews with the nurses, technicians and nurse assistants and submitted to speech analysis. The results revealed the existence of a team able to achieve the predetermined organizational results. The team finds its basis in a relationship of help established in a healthy way, with a sense of coverage, fruit of the commitment to patient care and respect for the individuality of each team member.
